X Sending Methods
There are two methods of sending faxes:
Sending from your machine (memory sending)
Sending from your computer (See Software Guide)
This section explains how to use these methods.
Sending From Your Machine (Memory Sending)
Follow this procedure:
Sending Faxes From Your Computer
With your machine connected to your computer, you can send faxes from the computer. For details,
see Software Guide.
1 Load the document on the platen glass.
NOTE
For details on how to load documents, see page 19.
2 Press [FAX].
3 Adjust the settings for your document as necessary.
NOTE
To select the image quality (fax resolution), see page 97.
To select the scan contrast, see page 97.
4 Dial the recipient’s number using the numeric keys or directory dialing.
NOTE
For details on how to use directory dialing, see page 99.
5 Press [Color] for color sending, or [Black] for black & white sending.
IMPORTANT
Color sending is available only when the recipient’s fax machine supports color faxing.
6 The LCD displays the following message when the first document is
scanned. For a multipage document, load the next page and press [Color]
or [Black]. If sending only one page, go to step 7.
IMPORTANT
If you do not press the same key you pressed in step 5, the machine does not start scanning.
7 Press [Set] to start sending.
NOTE
To cancel sending before sending a fax, press [Stop/Reset].
To cancel memory sending while sending a fax, follow any instructions on the LCD after
pressing [Stop/Reset].
