KNIVES
Several disc mower knives are available through
Service Parts. Each type of knife is designed to func-
tion well in specific crop and field conditions. Contact
your authorized dealer for the disc mower knife that
will work best in your conditions.
7 DEGREE TWIST KNIVES
The 7 degree twist knives, 1, are recommended for
abrasive (sandy) cutting conditions.
14 DEGREE TWIST KNIVES
The standard 14 degree twist knives, 2, are recom-
mended in most crop conditions. A greater knife twist
angle enables the knife’s cutting edge to cut closer to
the ground while providing more lifting action to move
the crop over the cutter bar into the conditioner pro-
ducing a cleaner cut in most light crop conditions.
However, because of the greater twist angle of the
knife these knives are more susceptible to rock
damage.
V KNIVES
The V knives, 3, are recommended in rocky condi-
tions where excessive knife bending is a concern.
TheVknifeistobeinstalledwiththeconcaveside
facing downward. This style knife has a greater re-
sistance to bending when coming in contact with a
foreign object. The cutting quality of this knife is not
as good as with the twisted knives and will deteriorate
with knife wear. However, they are more resistant to
bending in rocky field conditions.
