55. When the dwell time is complete, several audible beeps will be heard, signaling
the end of the programmed time.
WARNING
To prevent the possibility of serious burns, ensure that insulated
gloves and protective gear as outlined in the user’s safety program
are worn and metal tongs are used to insert and remove sample con-
tainers from the ashing furnace.
56. Open the instrument door. Remove the furnace door and place it in the furnace
door holder.
57. Using metal tongs, remove the crucible(s) containing the sample(s) from the
ashing furnace.
58. Install the furnace door and close the instrument door. Press the START key.
59. Press the “balance” key.

52. Using metal tongs, place the crucible(s) containing the sample(s) into the
ashing furnace.
Note: When the furnace door is removed, a beeping alarm will sound until the
furnace door is installed.
Note: When the furnace door is positioned in the furnace door holder, the instrument
door cannot be closed.
53. Install the furnace door and close the instrument door.
54. Press the START key followed by the TIME key to recover the programmed
temperature and then begin the countdown of the programmed dwell time. The
instrument will maintain the programmed temperature during the dwell time.
