3.2 Lifting and Transportation
3.2.1 Lifting Precautions
WARNING:
Local safety regulations for crane and forklift operation MUST be followed.
A safety clearance of at LEAST 32.8 ft (10 m) must be kept to avoid personnel from stranding under the
machinery and to avoid serious injury.
Avoid lifting and/or transporting the cabinets during weather conditions such as heavy rain, fog, strong
winds, or sandstorms.
Figure 3-1 Lifting Points
When lifting the ESS, the following precautions must be taken:
Select appropriate lifting equipment, rigging, and shackles according to the site conditions and mechanical equipment.
Ensure the crane and rope meet the load-bearing requirements.
Slings and shackles must be checked and in good condition before entering the site.
Before lifting, reconfirm that the specifications and quality of the slings and shackles meet the requirements needed.
See Figure 3-1 for the locations of the lifting points for the rack.
When installing or removing a hoisting device, do NOT drag the rack; this can damage the rack.
Transfer the rack to the designated location by means of forklift transfer or hoisting (the recommended method is
hoisting).
The lifting lugs must be repainted if damaged after lifting.
Note that the radius of the hole on the lifting lug is 0.04 in (11 mm).
