2.8 Battery Rack Design
The CPS ES series ESS implements a modular design concept. It is equipped with a three-level BMS that collects cell
voltages, temperatures, module and string current, capacity, as well as other information from the battery rack. This system
includes functions such as undervoltage protection, overvoltage protection, overcurrent protection, overtemperature and
under-temperature protection, as well as real-time data monitoring and fault reporting features. The BMS can communicate
with the PCS using CANbus protocol to dispatch charging and discharging commands.
The ESS has one battery string per 279.55 kWh battery cabinet. Each string consists of 6 battery packs and 1 HV control box.
The entire string has a 1P312S cell configuration. Each cell is rated at 314 Ah at 3.2 V. The total nameplate energy of each
battery cabinet is 279.55 kWh, the string nominal voltage is 998.4 V, and the voltage operation range is 873.6 V to 1123.2 V.
