Every time the engine starts, the skipper should check if together with
the exhaust fumes the board outlet also expels cooling water!
4.1.2 Exhaust system/Maintenance
The seawater-cooled exhaust system with water collector, exhaust pipe and swan neck is cold-
resistant and does not need drainage. The hose braces should be retightened once a year.
In winter, the diesel engine should be made cold-resistant. We recommend to place a longer
suction hose on the suction snouts of the water pump, see YANMAR manual, to prepare an
antifreeze mix in a bucket and let the engine suck up this mix until it is expelled through the
exhaust pipe. In this way, you protect both the engine and the exhaust system against frost
and corrosion.
