Manual DEHLER 39
56 - 72
5. Fire protection
5.1 Preventive fire protection
During the construction of the Dehler 39 we were very careful about the possible fire risks.
We looked at the choice of materials, the distance between the cooking stove fire and the
surrounding built-in cabinets and the on-board diesel engine, with the engine room lined with
self-extinguishing insulation material.
As owner of the yacht you should keep everything the same and observe the following
instructions:
LOOK OUT
Keep the bilges clean and check regularly if the yacht
smells of diesel fuel or gas.
Don´t keep inflammable material in the engine room. If you
store non-inflammable materials in the engine room, take
care that they cannot fall into the machines and that they
don´t hinder the access to the machines.
You yourself and your crew can contribute to a preventive fire protection, by complying with
the following instructions:
Never
− Close the ways to the exits and hatches
− Close the access to safety devices such as fuel and
gas valves or switches on electrical installations
− change anything on the sailing boat (certainly not on
electric, fuel or gas systems).
− leave the yacht without supervision, whilst using
cookers and/or heating devices.
Never
Use gas lamps on the yacht.
Fill the tank or replace the gas bottles with a running engine or
whilst using the cooker.
Smoke when handling diesel or gas.
