With
ignition switch on and all wiring
harness
leads connected,
connect
a voltmeter from:
1. Alternator
"BAT"
terminal to ground
2.
Alternator
field
terminal to ground
3. Alternator
field
terminal to ground
A
zero reading indicates an open circuit between the
voltmeter connection and the battery. Locate and repair
the open circuit.
With
all
accessories
turned off, connect a voltmeter
across
the
battery. Operate engine at moderate
speed.
If voltage is 12 Volts or
less,
repair the alternator or voltage
regulator as
necessary.
Fuel
Shut off Valve - Check
Note:
Check
all
connections
for
loose
or corroded connections
N^J and for broken
wires.
Remove
the
valve.
Ground the valve and connect 12 volts DC
to the terminal and observe plunger movement.
Oil
Pressure
Switch and Temperature
Sensor
When diagnosing problems
with
either the
pressure
switch or
the temperature
sensor,
check for loose or corroded
connections
and for broken wires.
