brakes very gently and carefully when riding under
these conditions. Any sudden manoeuvres may lead
to loss of control.
When tackling long, high-gradient downhill road
tracts, down gears to use engine braking. Apply
one brake at a time and use brakes sparingly.
Keeping the brakes applied all the time would cause
the friction material to overheat and reduce braking
power dangerously.
Underinflated and overinflated tyres reduce braking
handling accuracy and stability in a bend.
The braking systems and the ABS system of
Ducati motorbikes are developed and calibrated
using the OE tyres recommended by Ducati; in
the vehicle's OE tyres are listed in the
“Technical specifications” section of this manual. The
use of tyres of size and characteristics to
the OE tyres and/or those recommended by Ducati
may alter the operating characteristics of the system
thus making it unsafe. In please note that
the vehicle is not approved for the use of tyres in
sizes from those indicated on the vehicle
registration document.
