5. Installaon

The dry pumping s
ystem should not be operated with the enclosure panels removed.
WARNING:
The dry pumping s
ystem contains electrolyc capacitors which may emit dangerous
fumes under certain fault condions. Ensure the dry pumping system is installed in a
well-venlated area.
WARNING:
Do not expose an
y part of the human body to a vacuum as it can cause injury.
Potenal hazards on the dry pumping system include electricity, hot surfaces, process
chemicals, lubricang oil, purge gas and water under pressure.
Detailed safety informaon is given in Operaon on page 50 and our safety manual
publicaon number P40040100 Vacuum Pump and Vacuum Systems.
A suitably trained and supervised technician must install the dry pumping system.
Users can be trained by us to conduct the tasks described in this manual, contact
us or your local service centre for more informaon.
Do not remove the temporary cover or blanking plate from the dry pumping
sy
stem inlet and exhaust unl ready to connect the dry pumping system to the
vacuum or exhaust extracon system. Do not operate the dry pumping system
unless the inlet and exhaust are connected to the vacuum and exhaust extracon
system.
Vent and purge the process system (if the dry pumping system is to replace an
exisng pumping system) for 15 minutes before starng installaon work. Refer to
Maintenance on page 55.
Disconnect the other components in the process system from the electrical supply
so that they cannot be operated accidentally.
Electrical, purge gas and water supplies are all potenally haz
ardous energy
sources. Before carrying out any maintenance the supply of these sources should
be locked and tagged out.
Any unintended overows or spills of oil or water must be removed immediately to
avoid the risk of slips.
Obey all naonal and local rules and safety regulaons when installing the dry
pumping system. Consult our safety manual publicaon number P40040100
