4.4 Unpacking Printer
____ Remove shipping material and inspect printer for visible damage.
____ Verify ShockWatch
®
tip/impact indicators have not been tripped. If there are any indicators that are tripped, notify the Facility
Manager, the shipping company, and your manager or director, and take pictures of the indicator and note its exact location before
continuing.
____ Verify spares kit is present; take inventory of spares kit as installation schedule permits.
____ Remove all boxes and parts from printer. Items include emergency stop covers, computer monitor, and accessories.
____ Remove Media Handling System components, Alignment Fixtures, and other parts from shipping crates.
4.5 Position.
____ Unbolt printer from pallet.
____ Lift printer from printer REAR with rated forklift.
Danger! It is extremely important to lift the printer with the printer beam closest to the forklift. Picking the printer up
from the opposite side may cause forklift and printer to tip forward, even if equipment is rated to lift printer.
____ Verify four main leveling feet are installed on printer frame. Ensure feet will not interfere with the wheels when the printer is
placed on the floor.
____ Place printer it final location.
4.6 Initial Printer Leveling
____ Check positioning of all printer feet.
____ Adjust feet and perform Frame Leveling procedure.
____ Check frame level one final time before performing critical alignments.
4.7 Preparing Carriage
Caution! Do not continue with the checklist until the printer is in its final position.
____ Remove all packaging and plastic wrap from carriage and beam.
____ Remove carriage stops installed at the left and right of carriage.
____ Remove all carriage hanging hardware and plates.
