BlackDiamond 8806 Chassis
The BlackDiamond 8806 chassis includes the following physical features:
● One 6-slot chassis with backplane
● Four dedicated I/O module slots, labeled 1, 2, 5, and 6
● One dedicated MSM slot, labeled 3/A
● One dual-use slot for either an I/O module or MSM, labeled 4/B. (Certain restrictions apply to the
use of slot 4/B. For more information see “Chassis and Slot Compatibility Issues for 8900 Series
Modules” on page 112.)
● Power supply bay that accommodates up to six power supplies, accessed from the front of the unit
● One fan tray, accessed from the front right of the unit
● One connector for an ESD-preventive wrist strap
Depending on the MSMs and I/O modules installed, the BlackDiamond 8806 chassis can support up to
128 gigabits per second of bandwidth per slot.
Figure 1 shows the front of a BlackDiamond 8806 chassis equipped with two MSMs and three I/O
modules.
