About Electric Bicycles
The ISSIMO must meet the requirements set forth in the Japanese
Industrial Standard JIS D 9115 Electric Power Assisted Bicycle
Regulations.
Provided the requirements set out in the Directives are adhered
to and maintained, you may continue to use your bicycle in ac-
cordance with the regulations governing the use of traditional
(non electric) bicycles, which means that may use it on cycle
paths and that you are NOT required wear a safety helmet, take
out Public Liability insurance or fit the vehicle with a license
plate.
In other words, to be certified by the Japanese Industrial Standards, an electric
bicycle must meet the following requirements :
– Auxiliary electric motor having a maximum continuous rated power of
0.6 kW.
– If the proportional assistance speed is between 0 and 10 km/h, the
assistance ratio is no more than 1:2.
– When the speed of acceleration is between 10 km/h and 24 km/h, the
rate of acceleration is reduced to 1:2 or less. No auxiliary force is to be
added at speeds above 24 km/h.
Any attempt to modify the performance or specifications of your
bicycle may result in legal proceedings and fines.
In order to use your bicycle on the public roads, you must first
have it fitted with all the accessories stipulated in the High- way
Code (front and rear lights, acoustic warning device, etc.) by a
qualified installation technician.
In some countries it may be necessary to ensure that the bicycle specifica-
tions comply with the locally applicable standards. Check all such require-
ments before using your bicycle.
電動アシスト自転車について
ISSIMOは日本工業規格 JIS D 9115 電動アシスト自転車規定で定め
られた要件を満たしていなければなりません。
取扱説明書に定められた要件が守られ、維持されていれば、従来
の（電動ではない）自転車の使用を規定する規則に沿って自転車を
使用し続けることができます。
つまり、日本工業規格の認定を受けるためには、電動自転車は以下の要
件を満たさなければなりません:
– 最大連続定格電力0.6kW以下の補助電動機;
– 比例補助速度が0～10㎞/hの場合、補助比率は1:2以下;
– 逓減補助速度が10㎞/h～24km/hの場合、逓減比率を1:2以下とし
て、24km/h以上の速度では補助力が加わらないこと。
お使いの自転車の性能や仕様を変更しようとすると、法的手続きや
罰金が発生する場合があります。
公道で使用するためには、まず、道路交通法に規定されているすべ
ての付属品（前照灯、後照灯、音響警告装置など）を、資格を持った
施工技術者に取り付けてもらわなければなりません。
国によっては、自転車の仕様が現地で適用される基準に準拠していること
を確認する必要がある場合があります。自転車を使用する前に、そのよう
な要件をすべて確認してください。
