4.1 OVERVIEW 4 ACCEPTANCE/PERIODIC TESTS

If this is the first time the Settings Level functions are used, the password has the factory value “123.”
(make sure to include the period). This password must be changed before any setting functions can be
accessed. See Section 8.1.20: CHANGE PASSWORD on page 8–17 for details on changing the pass-
word. The Master password gives the user setting and action control within the relay. The factory Master
password is “789.” (make sure to include the period). The Master password must be changed before the
relay can be used for the first time. See Section 1.1.2: PASSWORDS: FACTORY SET on page 1–1 for
additional details on changing the password.
3. When the correct password is entered, the settings menu is displayed.
4. Press the [1/Y] and [ENT] keys to select
Edit Protection Settings
.
5. Press the [1/Y] and [ENT] keys to select
Group 1
.
6. Scroll with the arrow keys until the cursor is on
1. Z1DISTANCE
then press the [ENT] key.
7. Scroll through the Z1DISTANCE menu until
Z1PHREACH = #.#
appears on the display then press the [ENT] key.
8. Press [5] then [.] then [6] from the keypad. The inputs appear on the display and the equals sign (
=
)
changes to a blinking colon (
:
) to indicate that a change has been made but not yet entered.
9. When the correct reach is entered, press the [ENT] key. The blinking colon (
:
) will change back to an
equals sign (
=
). This indicates that the change is entered into the settings buffer, but not permanently
changed in the relay.
10. To complete the setting change, press the [END] key followed by the [ENT] key (
Save Settings and Quit
).
If these keys are not pressed after setting changes, the settings are
not
stored in the relay memory. The
message:
SETTINGS SAVED
SESSION ENDED
will be displayed when settings are stored into the relay’s memory.
11. Restore the
Z1PHREACH
setting to its original value before beginning the test. The settings level or mas-
ter level password must be entered again to complete this step.
4.1.8 ENTERING TEST MODE
Before a test can be performed, the LPS-O must be put in test mode and select the function to be tested. The
test mode is set as follows:
1. Apply rated DC and wait for relay initialization to complete (if this has not already been done), indicated by
the green status LED on the front of the relay.
2. Press the [ACT] key. The message
ENTER PASSWORD:
is displayed.
Enter the Master or Actions level password and press the [ENT] key.
