Measurement
To ensure safe operation, be sure to read “Operating Precautions”
(p. 11) before starting the measurements.
• There is a considerable dierence in the battery’s internal
resistances between a full-charge state and a discharge state.
To improve evaluation accuracy, perform measurements under
a constant condition (for example, in a full-charge state).
• Terminals of lead-acid batteries (objects under measurement)
have a high resistance. Thus, resistance values may dier
between contact locations, the case side and the tip of the
terminals. Place the test lead into contact with the terminals at
the same location every time.
See “11.4 Eects of Current Density” (p. 157).
• Use the 9460 Clip Type Lead with Temperature Sensor
(option) to measure the temperature of the battery terminals.
Otherwise, use a non-contact thermometer, such as a radiation
thermometer, for safety.
• If terminals are covered with an insulating layer, the
measurement current cannot ow suciently, resulting in
measurement failure. In such a case, clean the terminals to
remove the insulation layer before measurement.
