JBOD Boot Device
Use the following checklist when connecting the Superdome to a JBOD boot device:
1. Verify that the storage device is supported by Superdome.
2. Confirm that firmware level of the JBOD device is current.
3. Verify that the correct hardware is ordered with the Superdome to allow connectivity to the JBOD.
4. Work with the customer to establish and verify requirements for the number and size of the disks. The
customer is responsible for making sure that the disks are reserved in the storage device.
5. Prior to install, confirm that the Superdome firmware is at a supported level.
NOTE The Solution Consultant should provide a document to the CE with the above noted
requirements. The Deployment Project Manager may be able to assist the CE in accessing
these documents.
Required Materials
Before using the delivery checklist, make sure that the storage cables are long enough to reach from the
Superdome to the storage device. Appropriate termination devices may be required.
Delivery Checklist
After the Superdome and Support Management Station (if purchased) have been installed, follow the
guidelines below upon system delivery:
1. If necessary, set the dip switches on the storage device to match the required configuration (SCSI
address, alternate links, etc.).
2. Physically connect the Superdome to the storage device.
This requires one or more cables for each partition being installed.
3. Verify that the appropriate disk devices are available using ODE and mapper2.
ODE is available by booting from the HP-UX 11i Support Plus CD.
