Setting Up the A180 Support Management Station Using the Web
Console or the Serial Port
You can access the Support Management Station (SMS) to configure it in two ways: using the Web console
port or using the serial console port. The method you choose depends on whether the customer has given you
an IP address for the Web console. If you have an IP address for the Web console, refer to “Setting Up the
A180 SMS Using the Web Console Port,” which follows. If you don’t have an IP address for the Web console,
refer to “Setting Up the A180 SMS Using the CE Tool” on page 174.
Setting Up the A180 SMS Using the Web Console Port
Setting up the SMS using the Web console port requires a customer-supplied IP address. If you do not have
an IP address for the Web console, skip to “Setting Up the A180 SMS Using the CE Tool” on page 174.
To set up the SMS using the Web console port:
Step 1. Connect one end of a standard LAN cable to the Web Console port on the SMS.
