4. Install the drive.
5. If removed, install the front bezel.
6. Determine the status of the drive from the drive LED definitions.
The installation is complete.
Most current operating systems provide an NVMe SSD driver natively. Use this native (inbox) driver to
configure and deploy NVMe SSDs.
The SmartSSD Wear Gauge reports in the HPE Smart Storage Administrator contain information about
the current usage level and remaining expected lifetime of SSDs attached to the system. For more

Enterprise website.
Drive cage options
The server supports the following drive cage options:
• 8-bay SFF drive cage
•
Rear 2-bay SFF drive cage
• NVMe drive cage in the LFF chassis
• NVMe-optical drive cage in the SFF chassis
The 8 LFF chassis can be upgraded to 12 LFF chassis with 8 to 12 upgrade option installed.
Installing the 8-bay SFF drive cage
This option can be installed in boxes 1 and 2.
Prerequisites
Before you perform this procedure, make sure that you have a T-15 Torx screwdriver available.
