The EXN3000 is a 4U disk storage expansion unit. It can be mounted in any
industry-standard 19-inch rack. The EXN3000 includes the following features:
Dual redundant hot-pluggable integrated power supplies and cooling fans
Dual redundant disk expansion unit switched controllers
24 hard disk drive slots
The EXN3000 SAS/SATA expansion unit is shown in Figure 5-2.

The EXN3000 SAS/SATA expansion unit is shipped with no disk drives unless disk drives are
included in the order. In that case, the disk drives are installed in the plant.
The EXN3000 SAS/SATA expansion unit can be shipped with no disk drives installed. Disk
drives that are ordered with the EXN3000 are installed by IBM in the plant before shipping.
Figure 5-3 shows the rear view and the fans.

Requirement: For an initial order of an N series system, at least one of the storage
expansion units must be ordered with at least five disk drive features.
