3.9 Storage
In this section, we look at the internal storage and RAID options for the x3850 X5, with
suggestions where you can obtain the details about supported external storage arrays. This

3.9.1 Internal disks
The x3850 X5 supports one of the following sets of drives in the internal drive bays,
accessible from the front of the system unit:
Up to eight 2.5-inch SSDs
Up to eight 2.5-inch SAS or SATA HDDs
Up to sixteen 1.8-inch SSDs
A mixture of up to four 2.5-inch drives and up to eight 1.8-inch SSDs
Figure 3-22 on page 91 shows the internal bays with eight 2.5-inch SAS drives.
