Why is transmitting impossible on my Icom Transceiver?
    • S
      Steven JohnsonSep 8, 2025
If transmitting is impossible on your Icom Transceiver, it could be due to a couple of reasons. The batteries might be exhausted, so try replacing them or charging the battery pack. Alternatively, you may have set a frequency outside of the 144/440 MHz amateur bands. Reset the frequency to within the 144/440 MHz amateur bands.

What to do if no sound comes from the Icom Transceiver speaker?
    • J
      James JohnsonSep 10, 2025
If you're not getting any sound from the speaker of your Icom Transceiver, there are a couple of things to check. First, the volume level might be too low. Rotate the [VOL] knob to a suitable level. Second, if you have an external speaker connected with OPC-1797, verify that the connection of the external speaker or OPC-1797 is correct.

Why can't I contact another station with my Icom Transceiver?
    • L
      Laura BlackwellSep 12, 2025
If you are unable to contact another station using your Icom Transceiver, it might be because a different tone is selected with tone/DTCS squelch. Check the tone/DTCS using tone scan.

What prevents the memory scan function from starting on my Icom Transceiver?
    • T
      Tammy ComptonSep 16, 2025
If the memory scan function will not start on your Icom Transceiver, it could be due to a couple of reasons: VFO mode or call channel is selected, so push [MR] to set memory mode. Also, if the programmed memory channel is only one, program more than 2 memory channels.

Why does the BC-177 LED blink orange when charging my Icom Transceiver battery?
    • S
      Stanley WilsonSep 18, 2025
If you can't charge the battery with BC-177 and the LED blinks orange, it may be because the transceiver's power is ON. Turn the transceiver’s power OFF, or insert only the battery pack into the BC-177 to charge it. Another reason might be that the battery pack has fault electric discharge. The battery pack is charged alone (without the trans- ceiver) or regular charge is carried out.
