■ Tone/DTCS squelch
q Set a desired operating frequency, and then set a
CTCSS tone or DTCS code.
w Push and hold [TONE](0) for 1 sec. repeatedly to activate
the tone or DTCS squelch. (T SQL or DTCS)
•Subaudibletone encoder “T,”pocket beep (tonesquelch)
“ST SQL,” tone squelch “T SQL,” DTCS beep “SDTCS,”
DTCS squelch “DTCS,” tone squelch reverse “T SQL-R,” DTCS
squelch reverse “DTCS-R” and no tone operation are select-
able in order.
•Whilecontinuingtopush[TONE](0), rotate [DIAL] also selects
a tone setting.
e Operate the transceiver in the normal way.
r When the received signal includes a matching tone/code,
the squelch opens and the signal can be heard.
When the pocket beep function is activated, the trans-
ceiver also emits beep tones and blinks “S.”
•Whenthereceivedsignal’stone/codedoesnotmatch,tone/
DTCS squelch does not open, however, the S-indicator shows
signal strength.
•Toopenthesquelchmanually,pushandhold[MONI](BAND).
t Push [PTT] to answer or push and hold [MONI](BAND)
for 1 sec. to stop the beeps and blinking.
