Configuring Security
The IF61 supports a variety of security features to help maintain
the integrity of your secure network. You can:
change default network parameters. For help, see
“Configuring the 802.11 Radio” on page 23.
enable/disable access services. For example, if you are not
using Telnet sessions to configure or manage the IF61, you
can disable Telnet access. For help, see the next section,
“Controlling Access Services.
change the default user name and password. For help, see
“Setting Up Logins” on page 33.
use a password server to maintain a list of authorized users
who can configure and manage the IF61. For help, see
“Setting Up Logins” on page 33.
disable serial port access to the IF61. For help, see “Disabling
Access Via the Serial Port” on page 36.
configure a variety of wireless security protocols. For help, see
“Configuring Wireless Security” on page 37.
For general information on securely using the IF61, see “Using
the IF61 Securely” on page 18.
Controlling Access Services
Access services are the different ways that users (such as
developers) can access and configure the IF61.
You can control how developers access the IF61 by enabling or
disabling these services:
Web browser interface (secure and non-secure)
Secure shell access to the Linux console
FTP access to the IF61 FTP directory
Telnet access to the Linux console
Note: Before you configure security settings for this IF61, you
should be familiar with the type of security implemented for your
network.
