Series 2 Machines
Before Towing/Winching
It is only possible to tow or winch the JCB MINI very slowly
for a short distance. If at all possible repair the disabled
machine where it stands.
If the machine needs to be returned to the workshop for
repair, it must be winched onto a trailer.
The machine is normally prevented from moving by
hydraulic oil locked up in the transmission circuit. The
following procedure must be carried out before attempting
to move the machine.
!M
CAUTION
Do not attempt to tow/winch the machine without first
releasing the hydrostatic braking otherwise damage
will occur to the hydraulic pumps.
3-2-1-2
1 Apply the parking brake and block all four wheels.
2 Remove the drive pedal pad A by releasing the
clamping screw. Repeat for dump pedal on 4WD
machines.
3 Remove the four floor plate retaining bolts B and lift
the floor plate away from the machine.
4 To allow free hydraulic oil circulation, release lock nut
D on the High Pressure Relief Valve C and turn screw
E down until contact is made as shown at F then turn
maximum 1/2 turn more. Repeat for the second High
Pressure Relief Valve located on the underside of the
transmission pump
K Fig 5. ( T E-57).
Note: On machines fitted with wheel mounted hydraulic
motors an additional procedure must be carried out to
release the hydraulic brakes Cross ref.
5 The trailer must be equipped with a winch to pull the
machine aboard. Align the trailer with the machine.
6 Connect the winch cable to a suitable part of the
machine before removing the wheel blocks and
releasing the parking brake.
7 The machine may now be winched onto the trailer.
8 Securely anchor the machine to the trailer.
Note: If the machine is to be towed: Maximum towing
speed - 2kph (1.2mph); Maximum towing distance - 1km
(0.6 mile).
After Towing/Winching
1 Apply the parking brake and block all four wheels.
2 To reactivate the High Pressure Relief Valves, turn
screw D fully anti-clockwise on both valves then
tighten lock nuts C
K Fig 5. ( T E-57).
Note: On machines fitted with wheel mounted hydraulic
motors, apply the hydraulic brakes.
3 Replace the front floor plate and drive pedal pad.
