Engine Cooling System
Checking the Coolant Level

WARNING
The cooling system is pressurised when the coolant is
hot. When you remove the cap, hot coolant can spray
out and burn you. Make sure that the engine is cool
before you work on the cooling system.

1 Park the machine on level ground. Stop the engine
and let it cool down.
2 Raise the engine cover
K Opening and Closing the
Engine Cover ( T 3-23).
3 Carefully loosen filler cap A just enough to let any
pressure escape. Remove the cap when all pressure
is released.

4 Check the coolant level which should be just below
the filler neck. Top up if necessary using an anti-
freeze solution
K Coolant Mixtures ( T 3-12). Refit
the filler cap and make sure it is tight.
5 Run the engine for a while to raise the coolant to
working temperature and pressure. Stop the engine
and check for leaks.
Changing the Coolant
1 Park the machine on level ground. Stop the engine
and let it cool down.
2 Raise the engine cover
K Opening and Closing the
Engine Cover ( T 3-23).
3 Carefully loosen the filler cap just enough to let any
pressure escape. Remove the cap when all pressure
is released.
4 Remove the bottom hose from the lower box of the
radiator.
5 Remove cylinder block drain plug B on the right hand
side of the engine.
6 Flush the system by pouring in clean water at the filler
cap.
7 Clean and refit bottom hose and drain plug B.

8 Fill the system to just below the filler neck using the
necessary anti-freeze solution

9 Refit the filler cap.
10 Run the engine for a while to raise the coolant to
working temperature and pressure. Stop the engine
and check for leaks. Check the coolant level and top
up if necessary.
