Dismantling and Assembly
Hub Dismantling
1 Park the machine on level ground and lower the
attachments. Stop the engine and remove the starter
key.
2 Jack up the front axle and remove the front road
wheel.
3 Prise off hub cap 1.
4 Remove split pin 2, nut 3 and washer 4.
5 Withdraw hub 5 and collect outer bearing 6.
6 Prise out oil seal 7 and withdraw inner bearing 8.
Hub Assembly
Assembly is a reversal of the removal procedure.
Grease bearings 6 and 8 and coat lips of new seal 7 with
grease before assembly.
Tighten nut 3 lightly whilst rotating the hub to seat the
bearings. Finally tighten just enough to eliminate bearing
play and secure with split pin 2.
Fill hub cap 1 with grease before fitting.
Steering Swivel Dismantling
1 Park the machine on level ground and lower the
attachments. Stop the engine and remove the starter
key.
2 Jack up the front axle and remove the front road
wheel.
3 Remove nut 9 and detach track rod end 10 from stub
axle 14.
4 Prise off cover 11.
5 Support stub axle 14 then remove circlip 12. Lift off
spacer 13 and shim 13A.
6 Lower the stub axle assembly out of the axle housing.
7 Remove wear washer 15.
Check stub axle 14, bushes 16 and washer 15 for wear
and renew as necessary. The thickness of washer 15
when new is 1.95 - 2.00 mm (0.077 - 0.078 in).
Steering Swivel Assembly
Assembly is a reversal of the removal procedure.
Grease swivel after assembly.
