WARNING
A raised and badly supported machine can fall on you.
Position the machine on a firm, level surface before
raising one end. Ensure the other end is securely
chocked. Do not rely solely on the machine hydraulics
or jacks to support the machine when working under
it.
Disconnect the battery, to prevent the engine being
started while you are beneath the machine.
GEN-1-1
1 Slacken the front wheel nuts.
2 Jack up the front of the machine and support securely
on blocks.
3 Remove the front wheels.
4 Remove the front apron.
5 Disconnect the ram feed hoses at A, labelling them to
ensure correct replacement.
6 Remove the axle pivot pin securing bolt and nut from
the back of the pivot pin C.
7 Unscrew the two trunnion bolt lock nuts on the front of
the axle and remove the two trunnion bolts B from
behind the axle.
8 Support the weight of the axle on a trolley jack.
9 Using an impact hammer screwed into the grease
nipple hole, extract the pivot pin C.
10 Lower the axle assembly clear of the machine and
manoeuvre away to a suitable area.
Replacement
Replacement is a reversal of the removal procedure.
After fitting, tighten trunnion bolts B so that the nylon bush
is free to rotate then tighten lock nuts to 70 Nm (7.1 kgf m,
52 lbf ft). It should be possible to rock the axle up and down
by hand but there should be no fore and aft movement.
