Preparations For Jacking
1. Park on a firm, level surface. Avoid ice or slippery areas.
2. Turn on the Hazard Warning flashers.
3. Ap
ply the parking brake.
4. Sh
ift the automatic transmission into PARK (P), or a
manu
al transmission into REVERSE.
5. Cycle the ignition to OFF.
6. Bl
ock both the front and rear of the wheel diagonally
oppo
site the jacking position. For example, if the right
front wheel is being changed, block the left rear wheel.
Wheel Blocked
NOTE:
Passengers should not remain in the vehicle when the
vehic
le is being jacked in position.
WARNING!
Do not attempt to change a tire on the side of the vehicle
close
to moving traffic. Pull far enough off the road to
avoid being hit when operating the jack or changing the
wheel.
