gate.ToreturntoD(Drive)range
operation,pushtheshiftleverback
intothemaingate.
Insportsmode,movingtheshift
leverbackwardsandforwards
willallowyoutomakegearshifts
rapidly.Incontrasttoamanual
transmission,thesportsmode
allowsgearshiftswiththe
acceleratorpedaldepressed.
• Up(+):Pushtheleverforward
oncetoshiftuponegear.
• Down(-):Pulltheleverbackwards
oncetoshiftdownonegear.
NOTICE
• Insportsmode,thedrivermust
executeupshiftsinaccordance
withroadconditions,takingcare
tokeeptheenginespeedbelow
theredzone.
• Insportsmode,onlythe6forward
gearscanbeselected.Toreverse
orparkthevehicle,movetheshift
levertotheR(Reverse)orP(Park)
positionasrequired.
• Insportsmode,downshifts
aremadeautomaticallywhen
thevehicleslowsdown.When
thevehiclestops,1stgearis
automaticallyselected.
• Insportsmode,whentheengine
rpmapproachestheredzone
shiftpointsarevariedtoupshift
automatically.
• Tomaintaintherequiredlevelsof
vehicleperformanceandsafety,
thesystemmaynotexecute
certaingearshiftswhentheshift
leverisoperated.
• Whendrivingonaslipperyroad,
pushtheshiftleverforwardinto
the+(up)position.Thiscausesthe
transmissiontoshiftintothe2nd
gearwhichisbetterforsmooth
drivingonaslipperyroad.Push
theshiftlevertothe-(down)side
toshiftbacktothe1stgear.
Shift lock system (if equipped)
Foryoursafety,theautomatic
transmissionhasashiftlock
systemwhichpreventsshiftingthe
transmissionfromP(Park)intoR
(Reverse)unlessthebrakepedalis
depressed.
ToshiftthetransmissionfromP
(Park)intoR(Reverse):
1.Depressandholdthebrakepedal.
2.Starttheengineorturnthe
ignitionswitchtotheONposition.
3.Movetheshiftlever.
Ifthebrakepedalisrepeatedly
depressedandreleasedwiththe
shiftleverintheP(Park)position,
achatteringnoiseneartheshift
levermaybeheard.Thisisanormal
condition.
