Yourvehiclehaspower-assisted
brakesthatadjustautomatically
throughnormalusage.
Intheeventthatthepower-assisted
brakeslosepowerbecauseofa
stalledengineorsomeotherreason,
youcanstillstopyourvehicleby
applyinggreaterforcetothebrake
pedalthanyounormallywould.The
stoppingdistance,however,willbe
longer.
Whentheengineisnotrunning,
thereservebrakepowerispartially
depletedeachtimethebrakepedal
isapplied.Donotpumpthebrake
pedalwhenthepowerassisthas
beeninterrupted.
Pumpthebrakepedalonlywhen
necessarytomaintainsteering
controlonslipperysurfaces.

Brakes
• Donotdrivewithyourfoot
restingonthebrakepedal.This
willcreateabnormalhighbrake
temperatures,excessivebrake
liningandpadwear,andincreased
stoppingdistances.
• Whendescendingalongorsteep
hill,shifttoalowergearand
avoidcontinuousapplicationof
thebrakes.Continuousbrake
applicationwillcausethebrakes
tooverheatandcouldresult
inatemporarylossofbraking
performance.
• Wetbrakesmayimpairthe
vehicle‘sabilitytosafelyslow
down;thevehiclemayalsopull
toonesidewhenthebrakes
areapplied.Applyingthebrakes
lightlywillindicatewhetherthey
havebeenaffectedinthisway.
Alwaystestyourbrakesinthis
fashionafterdrivingthroughdeep
water.Todrythebrakes,apply
themlightlywhilemaintaininga
safeforwardspeeduntilbrake
performancereturnstonormal.
• Always,confirmthepositionof
thebrakeandacceleratorpedal
beforedriving.Ifyoudon’tcheck
thepositionoftheaccelerator
andbrakepedalbeforedriving,
youmaydepresstheaccelerator
insteadofthebrakepedal.Itmay
causeaseriousaccident.
In the event of brake failure
Ifservicebrakesfailtooperate
whilethevehicleisinmotion,you
canmakeanemergencystopwith
theparkingbrake.Thestopping
distance,however,willbemuch
greaterthannormal.
