ThepurposeoftheSRSistoprovide
thevehicle’sdriverand/orthefront
passengerwithadditionalprotection
thanthatofferedbytheseatbelt
systemaloneincaseofafrontal
impactofsufficientseverity.
WARNING
Thedriver’shandsshouldbeplaced
onthesteeringwheelatthe9:00
and3:00positions.Thepassenger’s
armsandhandsshouldbeplacedon
theirlaps.
WARNING
Alwaysuseseatbeltsandchild
restraints-everytrip,everytime,
everyone!Airbagsinflatewith
considerableforceandintheblink
ofaneye.Seatbeltshelpkeep
occupantsinproperpositionto
obtainmaximumbenefitfrom
theairbag.Evenwithairbags,
improperlybeltedandunbelted
occupantscanbeseverelyinjured
whentheairbaginflates.Always
followtheprecautionsaboutseat
belts,airbagsandoccupantsafety
containedinthismanual.
Toreducethechanceofserious
orfatalinjuriesandreceivethe
maximumsafetybenefitfromyour
restraintsystem:
• Neverplaceachildinanychildor
boosterseatinthefrontseat.
• ABC-AlwaysBuckleChildrenin
thebackseat.Itisthesafestplace
forchildrenofanyagetoride.
• Frontandsideairbagscaninjure
occupantsimproperlypositioned
inthefrontseats.
• Moveyourseatasfarbackas
practicalfromthefrontairbags,
whilestillmaintainingcontrolof
thevehicle.
• Youandyourpassengersshould
neversitorleanunnecessarily
closetotheairbags.Improperly
positioneddriversandpassengers
canbeseverelyinjuredbyinflating
airbags.
• Neverleanagainstthedooror
centerconsole-alwayssitinan
uprightposition.
• Donotallowapassengerto
rideinthefrontseatwhenthe
passenger‘sfrontairbagOFF
indicatorisilluminated,because
theairbagwillnotdeployinthe
eventofamoderateorsevere
frontalcrash.
• Noobjectsshouldbeplacedover
orneartheairbagmodulesonthe
steeringwheel,instrumentpanel
andthefrontpassenger’spanel
