WARNING
Endoscopic removal may be required if the capsule fails to detach from the esophagus after several days
following placement, or if the capsule causes severe discomfort.
Ifthepatientcannotconrmthatthecapsulehasbeenexcretedfromthebodyandexperiences
discomfort, the patient should contact their healthcare professional for evaluation and possible X-ray.
WARNING
To avoid serious harm to the patient, MRI examinations must not be performed while the pH capsule is
inplaceinthepatient’sbody.PatientsshouldconrmthatthepHcapsulehasbeenexcretedbeforeMRI
examination.PriortoundergoinganMRIexamination,anX-rayshouldbetakentopositivelyconrmthat
the patient has excreted the capsule.
Accessories for the alpHaONE
Battery
ThreeAAAbatteriesarerequiredasthepowersourceforthedatarecorder.
NOTE
Three new batteries should last for the duration of a 96-hour study.
USB Cable
Used to connect the data recorder to computer.
Vacuum Pump
Using the suction pipe connecting the vacuum air outlet at the front end of the delivery-system handle, the vacuum
pump (Figure1-6)enablesthepHcapsuletoattachtotheesophagealwallforgrippingandxing,dependingon
vacuum suction. The pressure of vacuum suction can reach 0.08 MPa (600 mmHg).
