4. DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION
4.1 Introduction
This chapter contains a description of the parts of the ASTRONAUT A3 milking system and the physical
conditions the cows must meet to be able to use the milking robot. This chapter also explains how the parts of
the ASTRONAUT A3 milking system operate together to milk a cow.
The information in this chapter is for operators of the ASTRONAUT A3 milking system. Refer to the Corrective
Maintenance Manual for a complete description of the ASTRONAUT A3 milking system.
The operator of an ASTRONAUT A3 milking system uses the following parts:
• The ASTRONAUT A3 Milking Robot
• The Personal Computer (PC) with the Time for Cows (T4C) farm management software
• The Cleaning and Reporting System (CRS+).
The following figure shows an example of how the parts are connected together to make an ASTRONAUT A3
milking system.
