•Microprocessorsaretoberemovedonlybytrainedtechnicians.
Important:Alwaysusethemicroprocessorinstallationtooltoremoveamicroprocessor.Failingtouse
themicroprocessorinstallationtoolmaydamagethemicroprocessorsocketsonthesystemboard.Any
damagetothemicroprocessorsocketsmayrequirereplacingthesystemboard.
•Beextremelycareful,themicroprocessorsocketcontactsareveryfragile.Donottouchthe
microprocessorsocketcontacts.Contaminantsonthemicroprocessorcontactsormicroprocessorsocket
contacts,suchasoilfromyourskin,cancauseconnectionfailuresbetweenthecontactsandthesocket.
•Donotallowthethermalgreaseonthemicroprocessorandheatsinktocomeincontactwithanything.
Contactwithanysurfacecancontaminatethethermalgreaseandthemicroprocessorsocket.
•Donotuseanytoolsorsharpobjectstoliftthelockingleversonthemicroprocessorsocket.Doingso
mightresultinpermanentdamagetothesystemboard.
•Eachmicroprocessorsocketmustalwayscontaineitherasocketcoveroramicroprocessorandheatsink.
•Besuretouseonlytheinstallationtoolsprovidedwiththenewmicroprocessortoremoveorinstall
themicroprocessor.Donotuseanyothertool.
•Wheninstallingmultiplemicroprocessors,openonemicroprocessorsocketatatimetoavoiddamaging
othermicroprocessorsocketcontacts.
•Themicroprocessorinstallationtoolhasthemicroprocessorinstalledonthetool,andmayhavea
protectivecoveroverthemicroprocessor.Donotusethetool,orremovethecoveruntilyouare
instructedtodoso.
Note:Besuretousetheinstallationtoolthatcomeswithyourmicroprocessorinstallationtoolassembly.
Thetoolhastwosettingsforinstallingtwodifferentsizesofmicroprocessors.Thesettingsthataremarked
onthetoolare“L”forsmallerlowcoremicroprocessors,and“H”forlargerhighcoremicroprocessors.
