Removinghot-swapharddiskdrives

Usethisinformationtoremovehot-swapharddiskdrives.

Attention:

•Toavoiddamagetotheharddiskdriveconnectors,makesurethattheservercoverisinplaceandfully

closedwheneveryouinstallorremoveaharddiskdrive.

•Tomakesurethatthereisadequatesystemcooling,donotoperatetheserverformorethan2minutes

withouteitheraharddiskdriveoraﬁllerpanelinstalledineachbay.

•Beforeyoumakechangestodiskdrives,diskdrivecontrollers(includingcontrollersthatareintegrated

onthesystemboard),diskdrivebackplanes,ordiskdrivecables,backupallimportantdatathatis

storedonharddisks.

•BeforeyouremoveanycomponentofaRAIDarray,backupallRAIDconﬁgurationinformation.

Toremoveahot-swapharddiskdrive,completethefollowingsteps:

Step1.Readthesafetyinformationthatbeginson“Safety”onpagevand“Installationguidelines”on

page116.

Step2.Makesurethatyousavethedataonyourdrive,especiallyifitispartofaRAIDarray,beforeyou

removeitfromtheserver.

Step3.Slidethereleaselatch(orange)gentlytothelefttounlockthedrivehandle.
