TheVMwareESXiembeddedhypervisorsoftwareisavailableontheoptionalUSBflashdeviceorSDadapter.
TheUSBflashdeviceandtheSDadaptercanbeinstalledintheUSBconnectorandtheSDadapter
connectoronthesystemboard(see“System-boardinternalconnectors”onpage26
forthelocationofthe
connectors).Hypervisorisvirtualizationsoftwarethatenablesmultipleoperatingsystemstorunonahost
systematthesametime.TheUSBflashdeviceortheSDadapterisrequiredtoactivatethehypervisor
functions.
Tostartusingtheembeddedhypervisorfunctions,youmustaddtheUSBflashdeviceortheSDadapterto
thestartupsequenceintheSetupUtility.
ToaddtheUSBflashdeviceortheSDadaptertothestartupsequence,completethefollowingsteps:
Step1.Turnontheserver.
Note:Approximately20secondsaftertheserverisconnectedtopower,thepower-controlbutton
becomesactive.
Step2.Whentheprompt<F1>Setupisdisplayed,pressF1.
Step3.FromtheSetupUtilitymainmenu,selectBootManager.
Step4.SelectAddBootOption;then,selectGenericBootOption➙EmbeddedHypervisor.Press
Enter,andthenselectEsc.
Step5.SelectChangeBootOrder➙Changetheorder.UsetheUpArrowandDownArrowkeys
toselectEmbeddedHypervisorandusetheplus(+)andminus(-)keystomoveEmbedded
Hypervisorinthebootorder.WhenEmbeddedHypervisorisinthecorrectlocationintheboot
order,pressEnter.SelectCommitChangesandpressEnter.
Step6.SelectSaveSettingsandthenselectExitSetup.

ConfiguringtheEthernetcontroller
TheEthernetcontrollersareintegratedonthesystemboard.Theyprovideaninterfaceforconnectingtoa10
Mbps,100Mbps,or1Gbpsnetworkandprovidefull-duplex(FDX)capability,whichenablessimultaneous
transmissionandreceptionofdataonthenetwork.
IftheEthernetportsintheserversupportauto-negotiation,thecontrollersdetectthedata-transferrate
(10BASE-T,100BASE-TX,or1000BASE-T)andduplexmode(full-duplexorhalf-duplex)ofthenetwork
andautomaticallyoperateatthatrateandmode.
Youdonothavetosetanyjumpersorconfigurethecontrollers.However,youmustinstalladevicedriverto
enabletheoperatingsystemtoaddressthecontrollers.
