Theremotepresenceandblue-screencapturefeaturesareintegratedfunctionsoftheintegrated
managementmodule2.1(IMM2.1).
Theremotepresencefeatureprovidesthefollowingfunctions:
•Remotelyviewingvideowithgraphicsresolutionsupto1600x1200at75Hz,regardlessofthesystem
state
•Remotelyaccessingtheserver,usingthekeyboardandmousefromaremoteclient
•MappingtheCDorDVDdrive,diskettedrive,andUSBflashdriveonaremoteclient,andmappingISO
anddisketteimagefilesasvirtualdrivesthatareavailableforusebytheserver
•UploadingadisketteimagetotheIMMmemoryandmappingittotheserverasavirtualdrive
Theblue-screencapturefeaturecapturesthevideodisplaycontentsbeforetheIMMrestartstheserverwhen
theIMMdetectsanoperating-systemhangcondition.Asystemadministratorcanusetheblue-screen
capturetoassistindeterminingthecauseofthehangcondition.
ObtainingtheIMMhostname
UsethisinformationtoobtaintheIMMhostname.
IfyouareloggingontotheIMMforthefirsttimeafterinstallation,theIMMdefaultstoDHCP.IfaDHCP
serverisnotavailable,theIMMusesastaticIPaddressof192.168.70.125.ThedefaultIPv4hostname
is“IMM-”(plusthelast12charactersontheIMMMACaddress).Thedefaulthostnamealsocomeson
theIMMnetworkaccesstagthatcomesattachedtothepowersupplyontherearoftheserver.TheIMM
networkaccesstagprovidesthedefaulthostnameoftheIMManddoesnotrequireyoutostarttheserver.
TheIPv6link-localaddress(LLA)isderivedfromtheIMMdefaulthostname.TheIMMLLAisontheIMM
networkaccesstagisonthepowersupplyontherearoftheserver.Toderivethelink-localaddress,
completethefollowingsteps:
