Lightpathdiagnostics
LightpathdiagnosticsisasystemofLEDsonvariousexternalandinternalcomponentsoftheserverthat
leadsyoutothefailedcomponent.Whenanerroroccurs,LEDsarelitontheoperatorinformationpanel
onthefrontoftheserver,thenonthefailedcomponent.ByviewingtheLEDsinaparticularorder,you
canoftenidentifythesourceoftheerror.
WhenLEDsarelittoindicateanerror,theyremainlitwhentheserveristurnedoff,providedthattheserveris
stillconnectedtopowerandthepowersupplyisoperatingcorrectly.

and“Handlingstatic-sensitivedevices”onpage118.
Ifanerroroccurs,proceedasfollows:
1.Lookattheoperatorinformationpanel(see“Operatorinformationpanel”onpage19)onthefrontof
theserver.
•IfthechecklogLEDislit,itindicatesthatinformationaboutanun-isolatedfaultconditioninthe
serverisavailableintheIMMeventlogorinthesystem-eventlog.
•Ifthesystem-errorLEDislit,itindicatesthatanerrorhasoccurred.
2.RemovetheservercoverandlookinsidetheserverforlitLEDs.Certaincomponentsinsidetheserver
haveLEDsthatarelittoindicatethelocationofaproblem.Thesystemservicelabelinsidetheserver
coverprovidesanoverviewofinternalcomponentsthatcorrespondtoerrorsindicatedbytheoperator
informationpanelorLCDoperatingpanelassembly(see“Operatorinformationpanel”onpage19
or
“LCDoperatingpanelassembly”onpage19.Thisinformationcanoftenprovideenoughinformation
todiagnosetheerror.
