Passwords

Ifyousetonlyapower-onpassword,youmusttypethepower-onpasswordtocompletethesystemstartup
andtohaveaccesstothefullSetuputilitymenu.
Anadministratorpasswordisintendedtobeusedbyasystemadministrator;itlimitsaccesstothefullSetup
utilitymenu.Ifyousetonlyanadministratorpassword,youdonothavetotypeapasswordtocompletethe
systemstartup,butyoumusttypetheadministratorpasswordtoaccesstheSetuputilitymenu.
Ifyousetapower-onpasswordforauserandanadministratorpasswordforasystemadministrator,youcan
typeeitherpasswordtocompletethesystemstartup.Asystemadministratorwhotypestheadministrator
passwordhasaccesstothefullSetuputilitymenu;thesystemadministratorcangivetheuserauthorityto
set,change,anddeletethepower-onpassword.Auserwhotypesthepower-onpasswordhasaccess
toonlythelimitedSetuputilitymenu;theusercanset,change,anddeletethepower-onpassword,ifthe
systemadministratorhasgiventheuserthatauthority.
Power-onpassword
Ifapower-onpasswordisset,whenyouturnontheserver,youmusttypethepower-onpasswordto
completethesystemstartup.Youcanuseanycombinationof6-20printableASCIIcharactersforthe
password.
Whenapower-onpasswordisset,youcanenabletheUnattendedStartmode,inwhichthekeyboardand
mouseremainlockedbuttheoperatingsystemcanstart.Youcanunlockthekeyboardandmouseby
typingthepower-onpassword.
Ifyouforgetthepower-onpassword,youcanregainaccesstotheserverinanyofthefollowingways:
•Ifanadministratorpasswordisset,typetheadministratorpasswordatthepasswordprompt.Startthe
Setuputilityandresetthepower-onpassword.
