Ranksparing
Sparingenablesafailingranktobereplacedbyranksinstalledinanunoccupiedspace.Anunusedspare
rankonthechannelcanbeusedtocopythecontentsofafailingrankonthatchannel.
Whenyouusethememorymirroringfeature,considerthefollowinginformation:
Inranksparingmode,onerankofaDIMMineachpopulatedchannelisreservedassparememory.The
sparerankisnotavailableasactivememory.Whentheactiverankmemoryfails,itscontentiscopiedto
thesparerankmemorywhichbecomesactive.Thesparerankmusthaveidenticalorlargermemory
capacitythanalltheotherranksonthesamechannel.
DIMMsmustbeinstalledinsetsofthree.TheDIMMsineachsetmustbethesamesizeandtype.
