Ranksparing
Sparingenablesafailingranktobereplacedbyranksinstalledinanunoccupiedspace.Anunusedspare
rankonthechannelcanbeusedtocopythecontentsofafailingrankonthatchannel.
Whenyouusethememorymirroringfeature,considerthefollowinginformation:
•Inranksparingmode,onerankofaDIMMineachpopulatedchannelisreservedassparememory.The
sparerankisnotavailableasactivememory.Whentheactiverankmemoryfails,itscontentiscopiedto
thesparerankmemorywhichbecomesactive.Thesparerankmusthaveidenticalorlargermemory
capacitythanalltheotherranksonthesamechannel.
•DIMMsmustbeinstalledinsetsofthree.TheDIMMsineachsetmustbethesamesizeandtype.
