Usethisinformationtoremoveandreplacetheservercomponents.
Replaceablecomponentsconsistofconsumableparts,structuralparts,andfieldreplaceableunits(FRUs):
•Consumables:Purchaseandreplacementofconsumables(components,suchasbatteriesandprinter
cartridges,thathavedepletinglife)isyourresponsibility.IfLenovoacquiresorinstallsaconsumable
componentatyourrequest,youwillbechargedfortheservice.
•Structuralparts:Purchaseandreplacementofstructuralparts(components,suchaschassisassembly,
topcover,andbezel)isyourresponsibility.IfLenovoacquiresorinstallsastructuralcomponentat
yourrequest,youwillbechargedfortheservice.
•Fieldreplaceableunit(FRU):FRUsmustbeinstalledonlybytrainedtechnicians,unlesstheyare
classifiedascustomerreplaceableunits(CRUs):
–Tier1customerreplaceableunit(CRU):ReplacementofTier1CRUsisyourresponsibility.IfLenovo
installsaTier1CRUatyourrequest,youwillbechargedfortheinstallation.
–Tier2customerreplaceableunit:YoumayinstallaTier2CRUyourselforrequestLenovotoinstallit,
atnoadditionalcharge,underthetypeofwarrantyservicethatisdesignatedforyourserver.

Forinformationaboutthetermsofthewarranty,seetheWarrantyInformationdocumentthatcomeswith
theserver.ReminderthatforcustomersintheUSAwith9x5NextBusinessDaywarrantythecustomer
isrequiredtoremovetheunit(twopeople)fromtherackandLenovoservicepersonnelcannotassistthe
customer.

Returningadeviceorcomponent
Ifyouareinstructedtoreturnadeviceorcomponent,followallpackaginginstructions,anduseany
packagingmaterialsforshippingthataresuppliedtoyou.
Internalcablerouting
Attention:Failingtoinstallorremovethecablewithcaremaydamagetheconnectorsonthesystemboard.
Anydamagetotheconnectorsmayrequirereplacingthesystemboard.
Hot-swapharddiskdrivebackplanecableconnections
Thissectionprovidesinformationaboutroutingthecableswhenyouinstallsomecomponentsintheserver.
Formoreinformationabouttherequirementsforcablesandconnectingdevices,seethedocumentation
thatcomeswiththesedevices.
Note:Whenthehot-swapbackplaneisinuse,makesurethatPort1onthehardwareServeRAIDorsystem
boardisconnectedtoPort1onthebackplane.Likewise,Port0onthehardwareServeRAIDorsystemboard
shouldbeconnectedtoPort0onthebackplane.
