UsethisinformationforAutomatedbootrecovery(ABR).
Whiletheserverisstarting,iftheintegratedmanagementmoduleIIdetectsproblemswiththeserver
firmwareintheprimarybank,theserverautomaticallyswitchestothebackupfirmwarebankandgives
youtheopportunitytorecoverthefirmwareintheprimarybank.ForinstructionsforrecoveringtheUEFI
firmware,see“Recoveringtheserverfirmware”onpage137.Afteryouhaverecoveredthefirmwarein
theprimarybank,completethefollowingsteps:
Step1.Restarttheserver.
Step2.WhenthepromptpressF3torestoretoprimaryisdisplayed,pressF3torecovertheprimarybank.
PressingF3willrestarttheserver.
Nx-bootfailure
UsethisinformationforNx-bootfailure.
Configurationchanges,suchasaddeddevicesoradapterfirmwareupdates,andfirmwareorapplication
codeproblemscancausetheservertofailPOST(thepower-onself-test).Ifthisoccurs,theserverresponds
ineitherofthefollowingways:
TheserverrestartsautomaticallyandattemptsPOSTagain.
Theserverhangs,andyoumustmanuallyrestarttheserverfortheservertoattemptPOSTagain.
Afteraspecifiednumberofconsecutiveattempts(automaticormanual),theNx-bootfailurefeaturecauses
theservertoreverttothedefaultUEFIconfigurationandstarttheSetuputilitysothatyoucanmakethe
necessarycorrectionstotheconfigurationandrestarttheserver.Iftheserverisunabletosuccessfully
completePOSTwiththedefaultconfiguration,theremightbeaproblemwiththesystemboard.
TospecifythenumberofconsecutiverestartattemptsthatwilltriggertheNx-bootfailurefeature,inthe
Setuputility,clickSystemSettingsRecoveryPOSTAttemptsPOSTAttemptsLimit.Theavailable
optionsare3,6,9,and255(disableNx-bootfailure).
