afterpressingthelightpathbutton,itindicatesthatthelightpathbuttonisfunctioning
properly.Bycontrast,ifthelightpathLEDisnotlitwhenpressingthelightpath
button,itmeansthelightpathbuttonisnotfunctioningproperly.
Eventlogs
ErrorcodesandmessagesaredisplayedinPOSTeventlog,system-eventlog,integratedmanagement
module(IMM2)eventlog,andDSAeventlog.
POSTeventlog:Thislogcontainsthethreemostrecenterrorcodesandmessagesthatweregenerated
duringPOST.YoucanviewthecontentsofthePOSTeventlogfromtheSetuputility(see“Startingthe
Setuputility”onpage87).FormoreinformationaboutPOSTerrorcodes,seeAppendixB“UEFI/POST

System-eventlog:ThislogcontainsPOSTandsystemmanagementinterrupt(SMI)eventsandall
eventsthataregeneratedbythebaseboardmanagementcontrollerthatisembeddedintheintegrated
managementmodule(IMM).Youcanviewthecontentsofthesystem-eventlogthroughtheSetup
utilityandthroughtheDynamicSystemAnalysis(DSA)program(asIPMIeventlog).Thesystem-event
logislimitedinsize.Whenitisfull,newentrieswillnotoverwriteexistingentries;therefore,youmust
periodicallyclearthesystem-eventlogthroughtheSetuputility.Whenyouaretroubleshootinganerror,
youmighthavetosaveandthenclearthesystem-eventlogtomakethemostrecenteventsavailablefor

Messagesarelistedontheleftsideofthescreen,anddetailsabouttheselectedmessagearedisplayed
ontherightsideofthescreen.Tomovefromoneentrytothenext,usetheUpArrow()andDown

SomeIMMsensorscauseassertioneventstobeloggedwhentheirsetpointsarereached.Whena
setpointconditionnolongerexists,acorrespondingdeassertioneventislogged.However,notallevents
areassertion-typeevents.
