Whenanerroroccurs,LEDsarelitthroughouttheserver.ByviewingtheLEDsinaparticularorder,you
canoftenidentifythesourceoftheerror.
WhenLEDsarelittoindicateanerror,theyremainlitwhentheserveristurnedoff,providedthatthe
serverisstillconnectedtopowerandthepowersupplyisoperatingcorrectlyandthetopcoverisclosed
andlatchedcorrectly.
BeforeyouworkinsidetheservertoviewlightpathdiagnosticsLEDs,readthesafetyinformationthatbegins
onpage“Safety”onpagev
and“Handlingstatic-sensitivedevices”onpage32.
Ifanerroroccurs,viewthelightpathdiagnosticsLEDsinthefollowingorder:
1.Lookattheoperatorinformationpanelonthefrontoftheserver.
•IftheLogLEDislit,itindicatesthatinformationaboutasuboptimalconditionintheserverisavailable
intheIMMsystem-eventlogorinthesystem-eventlog.
•Ifthesystem-errorLEDislit,itindicatesthatanerrorhasoccurred;gotostep2.
Note:Theinitialserverconfigurationwillnotincludethelightpathdiagnosticspanel.Step2isfor
userswhohaveupgradedtheoperatorinformationpaneltotheadvancedoperatorinformationpanel.
Iftheserveronlyhastheoperatorinformationpanel,pleasegotostep3.
2.Toviewtheadvancedoperatorinformationpanel,pressthebluelatchontherightoftheoperatorpanel.
LitLEDsonthispanelindicatethetypeoferrorthathasoccurred.NoteanyLEDsthatarelit,andthen
reinstallthelightpathdiagnosticspanelintheserver.
3.RemovetheservertopcoverandlookinsidetheserverforlitLEDs.Certaincomponentsinsidethe
serverhaveLEDsthatarelittoindicatethelocationofaproblem.Thefollowingillustrationshowsthe
