Note:ThefirstDIMMconnectorsineverychannelarewhite-colored,whilethesecondDIMMconnectorsin
everychannelareblack-colored.
Step1.Readthesafetyinformationthatbeginsonpage“Safety”onpagevand“Installationguidelines”
onpage30.
Step2.Turnofftheserver(see“Turningofftheserver”onpage19)andallattachedperipheraldevices.
Disconnectallpowercords;then,disconnectallexternalcablesasnecessarytoreplacethedevice.
Step3.Removetheservertopcover(see“Removingtheservertopcover”onpage32).
Step4.Rotatethehot-swaprearharddiskdrivecageup(see“Rotatingthehot-swaprearharddisk
drivecageup”onpage34
Step5.RemovethePCIriser-cardassembly(see“RemovingaPCIriser-cardassembly”onpage34.
Step6.Removetheairbaffle(see“Removingtheairbaffle”onpage36.
Step7.CarefullyflipopentheretainingcliponeachendoftheDIMMconnector.
Attention:ToavoidbreakingtheretainingclipsordamagingtheDIMMconnectors,openand
closetheclipsgently.

Step8.Touchthestatic-protectivepackagethatcontainstheDIMMtoanyunpaintedmetalsurfaceonthe
server.Then,removetheDIMMfromthepackage.
Step9.TurntheDIMMsothattheDIMMkeysaligncorrectlywiththeconnector.
Step10.InserttheDIMMintotheconnectorbyaligningtheedgesoftheDIMMwiththeslotsattheendof
theDIMMconnector.FirmlypresstheDIMMstraightdownintotheconnectorbyapplyingpressure
onbothendsoftheDIMMsimultaneously.Theretainingclipssnapintothelockedpositionwhen
theDIMMisfirmlyseatedintheconnector.
Important:IfthereisagapbetweentheDIMMandtheretainingclips,theDIMMhasnotbeen
correctlyinserted;opentheretainingclips,removetheDIMM,andthenreinsertit.
