thedrive,makingsurethatthedriveassemblyconnectstotheharddiskdrive
backplane.
3.ObservetheassociatedgreenharddiskdriveactivityLEDandtheyellow
statusLED:
IfthegreenactivityLEDisflashingandtheyellowstatusLEDisnotlit,the
driveisrecognizedbythecontrollerandisworkingcorrectly.RuntheDSA
harddiskdrivetesttodeterminewhetherthedriveisdetected.
IfthegreenactivityLEDisflashingandtheyellowstatusLEDisflashing
slowly,thedriveisrecognizedbythecontrollerandisrebuilding.
IfneitherLEDislitorflashing,checktheharddiskdrivebackplane(goto
step“Harddiskdriveproblems”onpage122
).
IfthegreenactivityLEDisflashingandtheyellowstatusLEDislit,replacethe
drive.IftheactivityoftheLEDsremainsthesame,gotostep“Harddiskdrive
problems”onpage122.IftheactivityoftheLEDschanges,returntostep1.
4.Makesurethattheharddiskdrivebackplaneiscorrectlyseated.Whenitis
correctlyseated,thedriveassembliescorrectlyconnecttothebackplane
withoutbowingorcausingmovementofthebackplane.
5.Reseatthebackplanepowercableandrepeatsteps1through3.
6.Reseatthebackplanesignalcableandrepeatsteps1through3.
7.Suspectthebackplanesignalcableorthebackplane:
a.Replacetheaffectedbackplanesignalcable.
b.Replacetheaffectedbackplane.
8.RuntheDSAtestsfortheSAS/SATAadapterandharddiskdrives(see“Running
theDSAPrebootdiagnosticprograms”onpage119).
Iftheadapterpassesthetestbutthedrivesarenotrecognized,replacethe
backplanesignalcableandrunthetestsagain.
Replacethebackplane.
Iftheadapterfailsthetest,disconnectthebackplanesignalcablefromthe
adapterandrunthetestsagain.
Iftheadapterfailsthetest,replacetheadapter.
