Allhot-swapdrivesintheservershouldhavethesamethroughputspeedrating.Usingharddiskdrives
withdifferentspeedratingswillcausealldrivestooperateatthethroughputspeedoftheslowestdrive.
Toinstallahot-swapSASorSATAdrive,completethefollowingsteps:

Step1.Readthesafetyinformationthatbeginsonpage“Safety”onpagev,“Handlingstatic-sensitive
devices”onpage32
and“Installationguidelines”onpage30.
Step2.Touchthestatic-protectivepackagethatcontainsthedrivetoanyunpaintedmetalsurfaceonthe
server;then,removethedrivefromthepackageandplaceitonastatic-protectivesurface.
Step3.Removethefillerpanelfromthefrontoftheserver.
Step4.Orientthedriveasshownintheillustration.

Afteryoureplaceafailedharddiskdrive,thegreenactivityLEDflashesasthediskspinsup.TheyellowLED
turnsoffafterapproximately1minute.Ifthenewdrivestartstorebuild,theyellowLEDflashesslowly,and
thegreenactivityLEDremainslitduringtherebuildprocess.IftheyellowLEDremainslit,see“Harddisk
