Makesurethatcablesarenotpinchedbytheservercomponents.
Step8.Rotatetheretentionlatchtotheclosedposition,makingsuretheretentionlatchengagesthe
ServeRAIDadapter.Then,pushinthereleasepintolocktheretentionlatchinplace.
Step9.InstallPCIriser-cardassembly2(see“InstallingaPCIriser-cardassembly”onpage75).
Notes:
1.WhenyourestarttheserverforthefirsttimeafteryouinstallaServeRAIDadapterwithabattery,the
monitorscreenremainsblankwhilethecontrollerinitializesthebattery.Thismighttakeafewminutes,
afterwhichthestartupprocesscontinues.Thisisaone-timeoccurrence.
Important:Youmustallowtheinitializationprocesstobecompleted.Ifyoudonot,thebatterypackwill
notwork,andtheservermightnotstart.
Thebatterycomespartiallycharged,at30%orlessofcapacity.Runtheserverfor4to6hoursto
fullychargethebattery.TheLEDjustabovethebatteryonthecontrollerremainslituntilthebattery
isfullycharged.
Untilthebatteryisfullycharged,thecontrollerfirmwaresetsthecontrollercachetowrite-throughmode;
afterthebatteryisfullycharged,thecontrollerfirmwarere-enableswrite-backmode.
2.Whenyourestarttheserver,youaregiventheopportunitytoimporttheexistingRAIDconfigurationto
thenewServeRAIDadapter.
RemovingtheRAIDadapterbatteryorflashpowermodulefromtheRAIDbatterytray
UsethisinformationtoremovetheRAIDadapterbatteryorflashpowermodulefromtheRAIDbatterytray.
ToremovetheRAIDadapterbatteryfromtheRAIDbatterytray,completethefollowingsteps:

Step2.Turnofftheserver(see“Turningofftheserver”onpage19)andallattachedperipheraldevices.
Disconnectallpowercords;then,disconnectallexternalcablesasnecessarytoreplacethedevice.
Step3.Removetheservertopcover(see“Removingtheservertopcover”onpage247).
Step4.Slightlyuseyourfingerorthumbtounlockthebatteryretentionclipfromthebatteryholder.During
theunlockingprocessyouwillheara"click"sound.
