The job card number consists of the index breakdown (A5.05) and the maintenance
number (bold) subdivided into four pairs of digits.
• The first pair of digits indicates the engine main maintenance group:
01. Cylinder head 08. Lube oil system
02. Driving mechanism 09. Cooling water system
03. Engine housing 10. Starting air system
04. Engine control 11. Monitors
05. Regulation 12. Auxiliary generator sets and tools
06. Exhaust gas system/ 13. Additional installation
supercharging
07. Fuel system
In order to facilitate the finding of the engine main group, the pair of digits on the right
margin has been set as register .
• The second and third pair of digits indicates the subgroups of the main group and the
titles of the job card where maintenance work is required.
• The fourth pair of digits indicates the type of variant.
• See job card: Reference is made to other job cards required for maintenance work. At
this point the types of variants (fourth pair of digit) are marked “nn”.
• Spare parts sheets: For easy finding of necessary comsumables and spare parts for the
maintenance group in Vol. B “Spare parts catalogue”, indicating other design details in
the illustrations, if necessary.
The third pair of digits in the index breakdown in the spare parts number indicates the
main group/register.
• Fuel: Documenting the sold type of fuel of the engine plant (see also: introduction
A0.02).
• Safety note: Each safety note is additionally marked with a symbol ĭ in order to draw
special attention to the text (see A5.03).
• Attention: Marking technical regulations or measures to be strictly observed in order to
avoid damage or destruction of equipment or components of the engine plant or other
material.
• Note: Gives the personnel information which optimize the work process.
