Note:
The push-button switch "Reset" located at the safety system must be activated after an
activation of the external emergency stop device!
Aftercooling
If the engine is stopped under load, it must be aftercooled for approximately 5 min. to prevent
steam bubble formation.
• If the engine is separated from the
cooling water pump: Let electrical pumps go on running:.
• It the pumps are mounted at the engine: Switch on backing pump or circulation
pump of the preheating device.
• Engines with mutual preheating: Switch the corresponding valve according
to pipe plan.
Resumption of engine operation after short operating stop
To prevent heat collections shortly before or immediately after stopping the engine, switch on the
system circulations and keep the engine at operating temperature or preheating temperature (see
A3.05.18.nn) according to the interruption period and type of fuel.
In heavy oil operation a change-over to distillate fuel (see A3.06.07.nn) is only necessary if
maintenance work on the injection system are planned or if operation is to be continued with a
lower load during a longer period as is the case in some applications (see A3.06.18.nn).
• Switch on preheating device.
• Put cooling water circulation pump into operation.
• In the case of preheating through different running engines open corresponding shut-off
valves.
• Continue to operate fuel system in the heavy oil/distillate operation as during engine
operation to keep it at a temperature ready for operation: Circulation pump, fuel preheating
via viscosity meter, reversible flow filter - if present - is in operation. Also operate fuel
separator before service tank.
• Cooling oil pump for nozzles stays in operation if no maintenance work on injection valves
has to be performed.
